TIBBO IO Ninja Serial Tap

The Serial Tap is an affordable sniffer designed for monitoring RS232, RS485, and TTL-level UART communications. The sniffer interconnects with the data and control lines of serial links and sends the recorded data to the IO Ninja software in real-time.

All Serial Tap inputs are available on a quick-release terminal block. The device also features two DB9 connectors for "wedge" monitoring of RS232 communications. The board is even equipped with jumpers to invert or loopback RS232 signals, and features bi-color LEDs for indicating the status of RS232 lines. Thanks to the jumpers and bi-color LEDs, the Serial Tap can also be used as a simple tool for diagnosing RS232 wiring problems.

## Technical Specifications

- Designed for use with IO Ninja software (http://ioninja.com/).
- Monitors TX, RX, RTS, CTS, DTR, and DSR serial port lines.
- All inputs are connected to an 18-position quick-release terminal block.
- RS232, RS485, and UART (TTL) modes, selectable via a slide switch: 

- RS232 mode: two integrated DB9 connectors offer true "cable wedge" monitoring;
- Six jumpers for signal swapping and loopback;
- Six bi-color LEDs indicate the status of the monitored RS232 lines;
- DB9 connectors also allow DCD and RI signals to pass through.
- RS485 mode allows monitoring of TX and RX signal pairs.
- UART (TTL) mode allows monitoring of integrated circuit UARTs (1.8V to 5V logic).
- Six yellow LEDs indicate the status of the six monitored lines.
- USB 2.0 Full-speed (12Mbps) interface on USB-C connector.
- USB-powered, no additional external power supply needed.
- Supplied with a USB-C cable and two DB9 gender changers.
- Compact, external dimensions of only 82 x 74 x 30 mm.
