# GSM remote reading of electricity meters

With resolution ***595/2014/R/eel***, AEEG updated the regulation of the electricity metering service. **From January 1, 2016, GSE will only disburse incentives based on measurement data transmitted by network operators.**

 The [**CINTERION BGS2**](/it/shop-online/telecontrollo/tutti-i-prodotti/modem-gprs/cinterion-bgs2-dettagli.html) serial GSM modem is the ideal product to make your meter compatible with this new specification. The modem is available with an RS232 serial port or an RS485 serial port. 
The product can be sent pre-configured for the specific meter (baudrate, data bits, stop bits, parity) and to answer within a certain number of rings.
The modem is compatible with all Italian operator SIMs (no USIM) which must, however, be without a PIN.
