The RAK831 concentrator module is intended for a wide range of applications such as Smart Metering, IoT and M2M. It is a high-performance multi-channel transmitter/receiver module designed to receive multiple LoRa packets simultaneously using different spreading factors on multiple channels. The RAK831 concentrator module can be integrated into a gateway as a complete RF front-end for this gateway. It offers the ability to enable robust communications between a LoRa gateway and a massive amount of LoRa end nodes distributed over a wide range of distances. The RAK831 requires a host system for proper operation.

RAK831 is capable of receiving up to 8 LoRa packets sent simultaneously with different spreading factors on different channels. This unique capability allows for the implementation of innovative network architectures that are advantageous compared to other short-range systems: end-point nodes (e.g., sensor nodes) can change frequency with each transmission in a random pattern. This provides a huge improvement in system robustness in terms of interference immunity and radio channel diversity.
