NL51N-DPL: FROM PROFIBUS TO PROFINET IN CONNECTOR FORMAT

The netLINK PROXY integrates any PROFIBUS DP slave into a higher-level PROFINET network. Designed as a connector, the device is plugged directly onto the PROFIBUS DP interface of the DP slave and connected to the PROFINET network via the RJ45 socket.

On the PROFINET side, netLINK behaves like a normal IO Device. The process data of the DP slave is mapped into the PROFINET slot/subslot addressing model according to the directives of PROFIBUS and PROFINET International (PI).

Commissioning is carried out via the Ethernet port by direct connection to a PC or during runtime via a PROFINET switch, if already installed. The netLINK PROXY is configured with the FDT/DTM-based planning, configuration, and diagnostic tool SYCON.net.

It takes just a few steps to get netLINK ready for operation. If the slave's GSD file is not directly available, a scan function allows its automatic identification on PROFIBUS. Once the slave configuration and the length of the I/O process data are identified, SYCON.net automatically converts the parameters into a standardized GSDML file. Importing this file into any PROFINET controller configuration utility and commissioning netLINK is quite simple.

The netLINK proxy has a 24 V power supply. During assembly, the voltage can be conveniently taken from the DP-Slave and applied to the 2-pin COMBICON connector. The short distance on PROFIBUS makes a bus termination resistor unnecessary.
