100/100Mbps Downstream / Upstream, high-performance Ethernet over VDSL solution
PLANET VC-231 is a high-performance Ethernet-over-VDSL2 converter. It is designed based on two core networking technologies, Ethernet and VDSL2 (Very-high-data-rate Digital Subscriber Line 2). VDSL2 technology offers the fastest data transmission speeds over existing copper telephone lines, with no need for rewiring. The VC-231 supports extremely high performance for the pervasive telephone network with a symmetric data transmission rate of up to 100/100 Mbps within 300m and 50/2 Mbps for long-distance connections of 1.4 km.

Deployment with existing copper telephone cables
The VC-231 is also a Long Reach Ethernet (LRE) converter that provides an RJ-45 Ethernet port and an RJ-11 phone jack for VDSL2 connection. Using the additional splitter included in the VC-231 package, the splitter can provide a POTS splitter to share the existing phone line with POTS; therefore, there is no need to replace the existing copper cabling. Simply connect the VC-231 with the additional splitter to the existing RJ-11 phone jack to connect a high-performance VDSL2 network. The VC-231 is ideal for use as an Ethernet extender for an existing Ethernet network.

High-demand service connectivity for ISP / Triple Play devices
The VC-231 offers excellent bandwidth to meet triple play devices for home entertainment and communication. With its 100/100 Mbps symmetric data transmission capability, the VC-231 allows many multimedia services to run on the local Internet, such as VOD (Video on Demand), Voice over IP, video phone, IPTV, Internet caching servers, distance learning, and so on.

Easy and flexible installation
The Ethernet-over-VDSL2 converter has a plug-and-play design and is fully compatible with all types of network protocols. Furthermore, the operational status of each individual port and the entire system can be observed through the rich diagnostic LEDs on the front panel. The VC-231 offers two application modes, CPE and CO: CPE mode is used on the client side and CO mode on the central side. CPE or CO mode can be adjusted using a built-in DIP switch. For point-to-point connection, one VC-231 in CPE mode and one VC-231 in CO mode must be set as a pair of converters to establish the connection.

Superior upstream and downstream transmission performance
The VC-231 also defines a symmetric band plan for upstream and downstream signal transmission, which ensures superior transmission quality at short distances for the central office (CO) side in symmetric mode. Overall, when the VC-231 is in 17a profile operation mode, it provides long-distance transmissions with ultra-high performance to the pervasive telephone line network, while when the VC-231 is in 30a operation mode, it provides short-distance transmissions with wire-speed upstream and downstream performance.
