El protocolo DLMS (Device Language Message Specification) se utiliza en el ámbito de los contadores, y en particular en los contadores de energía, para la lectura de datos operativos. El estándar de referencia es IEC 62056. Se basa en servicios que permiten leer objetos, definidos como OBIS, dentro de los cuales se mapean los valores operativos de los contadores según los perfiles estándar. Marcom proporciona un gateway *DLMS-MODBUS*a través del cual es posible leer, comunicándose con el protocolo MODBUS RTU o MODBUS TCP, los datos proporcionados por el contador con protocolo DLMS.
